Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about the Prayer City movement, volunteering in person or online, groups, and what happens next.

What is the Houston World Cup Prayer City movement?

We are raising prayer volunteers and setting up prayer tents across Houston as we welcome visitors during the World Cup. We expect well over half a million guests—and we want them to encounter Jesus, many born again and saved, carrying the gospel back to their home countries.

It’s a unique moment: nations are coming to us. We can’t travel to every country at once—but when they come here, we can lead them to Christ and help them take the good news home to share with others.

I’ll be away during the summer—can I still volunteer?

Yes. That’s why we have Social Media & Virtual Support: you can help from anywhere in the world by reposting, sharing, replying, and engaging with posts online so more people hear the message.

You can also participate in prayer alongside the movement virtually when you’re not in Houston—your intercession still matters.

Can friends, family, or my church group get involved?

Yes. Please share with friends, family, your church, Bible study, or prayer group. Many of you can sign up and serve together.

What if I’m afraid or nervous to serve?

You don’t need to be afraid. There will be training, lots of prayer, and clear coordination. Your volunteer dashboard helps you connect with others on the team so you’re not doing this alone.

Can I sign up for multiple days and time slots?

Yes. On the sign-up form you can choose several dates and multiple time slots—pick everything that fits your schedule.

When will I know my assignment and the address?

As we get closer to the event dates, you’ll receive your tent assignment and specific location details.

Sites will be in the East Downtown area, near the main stadium zone—exact addresses and instructions will be confirmed as the time draws near.

We’re coming as a group—can we share the same tent?

Yes. We’ll do our best to place your group together. Send a group request by emailing ddbs.htx@gmail.com with your names, emails, and preferred dates—so we can assign you to the same tent when possible.

What happens after the World Cup prayer outreach?

This movement is part of a longer story. We have more programs and events planned beyond the tournament.
